Letter From the Secretary

Dated 22nd of September 2012

Autumn/Winter 2012 Newsletter

Dear Member,

Welcome to Kinver Freeliners AC’s Autumn/Winter Newsletter.

Firstly, you may have noticed that you’ve received this Newsletter both via email and via the traditional Royal Mail post. Hopefully we can cut the cost of stamps and stationary, by using email rather than post. Those members that have supplied an email address will start to receive Newsletters and probably more importantly next years membership application form via email, so its important that should you change your email address, please let me know, so I can keep my records up to date, and don’t worry if you don’t have email, I’ll continue to send you your information via Royal mail’s snail mail.

Hampton Loade

Between 1st September and 1st January there is the potential for a duck shoot to be happening on the opposite bank at Hampton Loade. Should you at any time, feel threatened by any actions that happen on the far bank in relation to the shoot, please contact me immediately, ideally by email (or phone if you feel its urgent) reporting the time, date, location and the complaint. We have already had a number of incidents and the club are in contact with the local Police, but your assistance in reporting any ‘problems’ at Hampton Loade is required.

Woodlands Pool 2 update

The pool 2 excavation is now complete and some swim construction and planting has already taken place. Obviously this is on going, and more work will be undertaken as time goes on. The next step is for the Club to invest some serious money on fish stocks. Via Dr Bruno Broughton, we’ve managed to secure some stunning Horseshoe/Orchard cross Carp that should be comfortably into double figures by the time we stock them into the pool this coming winter. These fish will all be micro chipped for security before their stocking and all fish will be photographed and those photos will be put up on the Club’s Website in due course. We are also going to be undertaking a feeding scheme to help these fish through the winter and next spring. The pool is now ready to be fished.

Please help to look after the Carp by taking the precaution of using a good quality unhooking mat when landing the fish. We are also planning on having a security gate fitted on the track down to pool 2, due to the theft of a small boat that was left there.

Pike fishing away day

Some of you may remember we have organised an away day on Pitsford Reservoir, Northamptonshire, for this coming October. We have 20+ boats booked for Saturday 13th October. This is a great chance for members to target some of the best Pike fishing in the country. The cost is £57 per boat, for two anglers max. I need to advise Pitsford the numbers by the beginning of October, so please get in touch if you are interested.

There are also a few of us looking at travelling down and fishing the reservoir on the Friday, staying over somewhere local, and fishing the reservoir again on the Saturday also. If you are interested in coming along and fishing the reservoir, either for just the Saturday, or fishing and staying over on the Friday also, please contact me asap to secure your place. Don’t worry if you don’t have a boat partner, or have never fished a big reservoir or from a boat before. I will try to pair anglers up with a fellow KFAC member, and advise/help will be given. Members may also bring a non KFAC member along. It’s a lure or sea deadbait water only, and I have a friend who has fished the water a lot, who is going to write a guide/advice piece for anyone who comes along.

Social Night

While we are talking about socials, Club Committee member Andy Millichamp is organising a social night for you. Although its open to all, Andy could do with knowing approximate numbers, so if you can call/text him on 07890 742789 and let him know, or pop a post on the relevant thread on the members section of the forum. Its just simply a few beers and fishing talk in a pub!

Date: 21st September 2012, Location: The Plough and Harrow, 82 High Street, Kinver DY7 6HD, Time: 8pm onwards.

Its Pike time again

For those that don’t know, we operate a Pike Club for Chelmarsh and Dudmaston Pike fishing. If you intend to fish these waters for Pike over the coming autumn/winter, please contact me for your Pike Card.
