Spring/Summer 2014 Newsletter

Dear member,

Welcome to our spring/summer 2014/15 newsletter.

If you are a new member to the club this will be your first newsletter you’ve received from me, so can I extend a warm welcome to you from all at Kinver Freeliners AC. Hopefully your wait to join has been worth it and you have many happy years fishing our waters.

I try to write to you two or three times a year, to keep you informed of news or events. The final newsletter of the season, which is normally posted out in March, will also include your application form for renewal of membership for the next season.

I’m in the process of looking at having our water booklets re designed. They possibly won’t be ready for posting out with this newsletter, so you may have to wait for the Autumn/Winter one. In the mean time all our waters are on our web site at

Ok down to business The waiting list is still growing, which is great for the club, but not so great for anyone looking to join our club. My best guess is, if someone goes onto the waiting list now, you are probably looking at 3-4 years+ wait for a place in the club.

As I mentioned in the end of season newsletter, we are in discussions for a couple of new waters. I have no firm news yet, but meetings are planned and hopefully something will happen soon. The details will get announced on our web site and Facebook page, as well as the forum.

I know we keep banging on about it, but please think about joining the clubs Facebook page, it’s a great way to get information out to you the members. Even if you “don’t do” Facebook, its worth joining just for our page. Just search for ‘Kinver Freeliners Angling Club’ on Facebook and send a ‘request’, Ben Cook who looks after the page will check you are a member before allowing you access. The page is members only, and we check your name off on the current membership list before allowing you access, so it can take a week or two to get you onto the page.
Eel Nights

Every year we get special permission from the National Trust to ‘Night fish’ the Dudmaston lakes. We are granted three nights by the trust, which we call ‘Eel Nights’. Although not everyone fishes for Eels, some of us do and the lakes have form for some good sized ones too. You are required to book in with me to secure a place on the Eel Nights, so please contact me for the details.

Spawning boards

You may see some strange objects floating in a few of our waters. We are in the process of building some Roach spawning boards, thanks to the help of the Severn Rivers Trust. These boards have proved very successful on the Hampshire Avon (see, and we have decided to build some and install then on several of our waters. Hopefully by the time you read this, the boards will be in the water and the Roach will have spawned on them. Please leave them in place if you do come across them and we will be removing them once we are sure spawning is over for the year.

Well that’s just about it from me.

Here’s to another successful season.
