River Severn, Bevere

Bevere

Our Barbourne stretch is situated just a couple of miles north of the city of Worcester. Access is via Old Northwick Lane, down to the car park. Use post code WR3 7NB for sat nav to get access to Old Northwick lane, or follow map provided. Continue right to the end of Old Northwick lane where you will find a council car park. PLEASE NOTE, the entrance to the car park has a height restriction barrier.

Once you've parked, exit the car park towards the river Severn. The meadow that the car park is adjacent to is free fishing. To access KFAC water walk upstream (right). KFAC's water starts at the next hedge and continues for three meadows.

Fishing here is typical lower Severn. Slow and deep, with overhanging trees and bushes in the margins. Noted for its Roach, Bream and Chub but this stretch can also produce Barbel, Pike, Zander and Perch to good sizes.

Night fishing is permitted, but please respect residents when arriving and leaving the fishery.

Bevere and Bevere Weir, River Severn Worcester

The stretch at Bevere, a further 1/2 mile upstream and has everything the river angler could wish for. Deep water, shallow fast pace water, snags, glides, you name it.

Parking permission for this stretch is very kindly given by a local resident and members must make every effort to ensure that we keep noise and disturbance to a minimum when arriving and leaving the car park. The owner lives just a few short yards from where we park and our continued access to this parking is dependant on members behaviour and noise levels while arriving and leaving the car park. The Club have added a steel gate to entrance of the car park and this must remain locked with the clubs combination padlock when not in use. The code to the car park is on your membership card.

To locate the car park either use postcode WR3 7RG, or follow map, taking the Bevere lane off the A449 just after Claines Island, heading towards Worcester city centre. Follow Bevere lane for just over 1/2 mile. As you turn left into the drive, the clubs car park in immediately on your right.

To access the river from the car park, head out of the car park via the steel access gate and turn left. Immediately turn left again and follow the track to the 'T' junction. Turn left and follow the bridal way called 'Northwick Manor Heritage Trail' (with the brick wall on your left) down to the river (a distance of aprox 400 yards). DO NOT WALK THROUGH THE GAP AT THE REAR OF THE CARPARK, as this is the access to the car park owners property.

The Clubs stretch starts immediately downstream of the access track. The first meadow, which is above the island is a noted Carp hot spot. The river here is quite shallow in the middle. Members have access across the bridge onto the island, giving access to some superb fishing. The water immediately below the weir sill for approx 100 yards on our bank is currently not under the control of Kinver Freeliners AC, but after that, you can fish down to the end of the meadow.

All the usual Severn species are present, with big Barbel a real possibility. Its also said that the area around Bevere island is a hotspot for Chub. Again night fishing is permitted but members must take every caution NOT to disturb residents.
